What to see in Gierle
Louis Neefs, born Ludwig Adèle Maria Jozef Neefs, (Gierle, near Antwerp, August 8, 1937 - Lier, December 25, 1980) was a Belgian singer and presenter, known for his participations in the editions of the Song Festival of Eurovision 1967 and 1969.
Neefs studied technical drawing at the University of Malinas when he pointed to the university choir and learned to play the guitar. His first contacts with the world of music were for pleasure, but in the last years of the 50s he was part of the Sun Spot group. Through actions and contests, the characteristic voice of Neefs caught the attention of the Jacques Kluger talent hunter, which also discovered, among others Bobbejaan Schoepen. Kluger and Schoepen made it possible for Neefs to sign a contract in 1958, recording his first album in 1960. His themes reached positions in the lists of Flanders successes, and a minor success in the Netherlands.
In 1967, Neefs was chosen with the song "Ik Heb Zorgen" ("I have concerns"), as a Belgian representative at the Eurovision Festival that took place on April 8 in Vienna. "Ik Heb Zorgen" ended up in Seventh position of 17 participating countries.
